Políticas Públicas e o Modelo Econômico Liberal

RESUMO

O modelo econômico liberal é um modelo econômico pautado na premissa da existência de uma ordem natural reitora da economia, que, fundada no interesse individual dos agentes econômicos e na mão invisível do mercado, mostra-se como a mais apta a produzir a maximização do bem-estar de toda a sociedade. Para este modelo, o desenvolvimento da economia está condicionado a uma profunda restrição à intervenção estatal na economia, a fim de que o mercado possa tomar seu curso livre e natural de desenvolvimento. Não obstante, neste modelo, a intervenção estatal, em que pese mínima, não é inexistente, sendo necessária e desejada quando voltada à atuação em atividades não essencialmente econômicas, bem como à manutenção da própria liberdade de mercado.

ABSTRACT

The liberal economic model is a economic model grounded on the premise of the existence of a natural order that rules the economy, which, founded on the individual interest of the economic agents and in the invisible hand of the market, is seen as the most able to maximize the society's well-being. To this model, the economy's development is conditioned to a profound restriction to the State's intervention on the economy, in order to allow the market to take it's free and natural development course. Nevertheless, in this model, the State's intervention, in spite of being minimal, is not nonexistent, being wanted and needed when directed toward activities not essentially economical, as well as towards the maintenance of the freedom of market itself.
