RESUMO

O presente trabalho investiga a maneira como a sociedade contemporânea enfrenta os desafios atinentes aos desequilíbrios econômicos existentes entre indivíduos e entre países. Discute-se, inicialmente, a distribuição de riqueza global para, na sequência, discorrer sobre os efeitos da globalização e as características preponderantes dos indivíduos contemporâneos, componentes da sociedade de consumo. Questiona-se, nesse contexto, se as características da sociedade de consumo e do fenômeno da globalização potencializam tal acontecimento social. Reflete-se, ao final, a possibilidade da construção de um paradigma global comum, de cidadania global que possa minimizar os efeitos deletérios advindos do sistema econômico atual e das características inerentes à sociedade de consumo.

ABSTRACTThis work investigates how contemporary society is facing challenges relating to existing economic imbalances between individuals and between countries. It discusses initially the global wealth distribution to , following , discuss the effects of globalization and the predominant characteristics of contemporary individuals , components of the consumer society . It asks , in this context ,if  the characteristics of the consumer society and the globalization phenomenon leverage this social event. It is reflected at the end, the possibility of building a common global paradigm of global citizenship that can minimize the deleterious effects arising from the current economic system and the characteristics of the consumer society.
