Uma análise da guerra no Iraque com base nas ideias de Michel Foucault e Joseph Nye.

RESUMO

Este artigo, filiado à linha de pesquisa Poder, Ideologia e Imprensa, tem como objetivo de estudo realizar uma análise teórica dos fatos ocorridos na Guerra do Iraque, causadas inicialmente pelos atentados de 11 de setembro de 2001, correlacionando com a participação da mídia. Na base teórica, utilizar-se-ão a teoria neoliberalista das relações internacionais, mais especificamente os conceitos soft, hard e smart power, de Joseph Nye Jr., e o pensamento filosófico do discurso e do poder de Michel Foucault. Este artigo foi divido em quatro seções principais: a primeira trata da explanação dos conceitos dos tipos de poder de Nye; a segunda, da explicação das ideias de Foucault; a terceira, de uma exposição histórica para situar espacial e temporalmente o leitor sobre os efeitos da doutrina Bush; finalmente, a quarta seção é a aplicação das ideias e conceitos de Foucault e Nye acerca do fato analisado.

ABSTRACT

This article, following the research line of Power, Ideology and the Press, aims to conduct a theoretical analysis of events in the Iraq War. This war was initially caused by the attacks of September 11, 2001. It also considers the participation of the media in this process. The theories used as basis of this work are the neoliberal theory of international relations, specifically the Joseph Nye Junior’s concepts of soft, hard and smart power, and also the Michel Foucault’s philosophical thought about the role of the speech and the power. This article is divided into four main sections, the first explains the concepts of power developed by Nye, the second explains the ideas of Foucault about speech and power, the third is a historical explanation to situate the reader on the effects of Bush Doctrine, and finally, the forth section is about the application of concepts and ideas of Foucault and Nye to the historical fact studied in this article.
