No dia 17 de fevereiro de 2018, fotos registraram vazamento de rejeitos de bauxita em barragem da mineradora norueguesa Hydro Alunorte. Nos dias seguintes, órgãos dos governos estadual e municipal, além do Instituto Evandro Chagas, estiveram no local para vistorias. Fiscais da Semas fizeram uma inspeção na empresa e confirmaram que não houve nenhum vazamento ou transbordamento, mas notificou a empresa por verificar falhas no sistema de drenagem pluvial que precisariam ser corrigidas. No dia 21 de fevereiro, a empresa se manifestou negando qualquer incidente, garantindo que a barragem se manteve firme, intacta e sem vazamentos. [...]

ABSTRACT

On February 17, 2018, photos recorded leakage of bauxite tailings from the Norwegian mining company Hydro Alunorte. In the following days, state and municipal government bodies, in addition to the Evandro Chagas Institute, were on site for surveys. Semas's inspectors inspected the company and confirmed that there was no leak or overflow, but notified the company of faults in the storm drainage system that would need to be corrected. On February 21, the company expressed its denial of any incident, ensuring that the dam remained firm, intact and without leaks.
